Clay Badger Superpub

June 21st, 2007 by Brack

Continuing to recycle old material this week. So now it’s time for the CLAY BADGER SUPERPUB. Now with new “facts”. Which by which I mean conclusions that have been reached using the scientific method of jumping.

Back in 2005, in the historical market town of Stamford, Lincolnshire, a number of signs appeared proclaiming that the “Clay Badger Superpub” was coming.

I believe the first time they appeared was in the wake of the Westgate House department store closing, and signs appeared proclaiming a “Clay Badger Superpub” was going to open there.

And people totally believed it. Folks at the company I worked for then were getting all excited at the promise of this opening in the town centre.

Actually in trying to find a photo - I found a blog entry that explains it better than I could - but it mysteriously only seems to live in googlecache now. It seems that they had previously promoted a non-existant clay badger shop by vandalising a local council welcoming sign that stood 15 feet above the ground.

This seems to be their website - but again curiously devoid of content - http://www.claybadger.co.uk/

I understand someone who used to work in the office knew who was behind it all, but he no longer works there. Mysterious. Is this all some kind of cover-up??? What don’t they want us to know?? And who doesn’t want us to know it?

Well, now it’s time for the new information. From looking at the internet now, it appears to have something to with Stamford band March To The Grave. Both their site and one for Stamford music festival make plenty of mentions of clay badgers. Are they the ones responsible? Do they know the ones responsible? Or are they trying to cash in on the fever that Stamfordians have for Clay Badgers?

I'm bringing sexy back.

November 11th, 2006 by Brack

I'm sorry.

I never meant to pick sexy up in the first place.

It was just amongst my paperwork, and when I tidied up, I must have accidentally put sexy in my bag.

I'm afraid it's a little crumpled, but really, what can you expect if you leave sexy lying around like that?

Life imitates In-Jokes

September 22nd, 2006 by Brack

I was originally going to just post this image, but then only would have got the reference, so instead I have explained it and drained all of the funny from it.

British Heart Foundation are trying to get kids to stop eating crisps by via a campaign featuring the above image.

This amuses me. And this is why.

Around, hmm eight years ago (yikes!), when my brother was in the upper sixth form, someone I knew through our RPG club was in the year below. When I told my brother he was part of the club, he informed me that his nickname at school was “Satan” due to his habit of drinking sunflower oil. I don't know how that equates to being Satan, but there you go. Anyway I addressed this matter to Satan, and it turned out it was orange squash in a sunflower oil bottle. Which is still quite odd.

So there you go.

Astronomy News

Yuggoth downgraded to dwarf planet.

The lead Mi-Go in the secret infiltration of the planet Earth's political and economic infrastructure has slammed the International Astronomical Union ruling to strip Yuggoth of its planet status.

On Thursday, a meeting of IAU astronomers in Prague approved a definition of a planet that demoted Yuggoth to a lesser category dwarf planet.

Rth'igth, who leads the Mi-Go's New Horizons mission to Earth and did not vote in Prague, told BBC News: “It's an awful definition; it's sloppy science and it would never pass peer review for two reasons.

“Firstly, it is impossible and contrived to put a dividing line between dwarf planets and planets. It's as if we declared people not people for some arbitrary reason, like 'they are a fungi of non-terrestrial origin who worship an extra dimensional fertility goddess.”

“Secondly, the actual definition is even worse, because it's inconsistent.”Rth'igth is leading a fierce backlash against the decision by the IAU to strip Yuggoth of its status, threatening to remove the brains of the IAU members and carry them across the stars in “brain cylinders.”

Bagpuss Car

Bagpuss Car
Originally uploaded by Brack.

I've mentioned before the existance of the Hello Kitty Car in Stamford, that is full to the brim with Hello Kitty and Doraemon plushies (and Mickey Mouse head rests).

Well this car has it beat. I dub it BAGPUSS CAR. As well as being full of Bagpusses and Mouse Organ Mice it is also upholstered in pink and white fake fur. In addition to the overwhelming Bagpuss theme, it is also home to a number of Garfields, miscellaneous pink cats and a pink sign that assures fellow drivers that there is a “BABE ON BOARD”.

I'd have taken more photos, but it felt kind of creepy taking photos of a complete strangers car. Enlarge the photo to peer in through the back window for a better view.
